SAN DIEGO - San Diego State softball head coach Kathy Van Wyk has announced the signing of Brittany Knudsen to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. Knudsen is a senior at Escondido High School and has played three seasons for the San Diego Renegades Club team.

An Escondido, Calif., native, Knudsen led the Valley League during her junior season with a .479 batting average and .515 on-base percentage. For her efforts, she garnered first-team all-league honors and was named to the all-CIF second team.

Knudsen, a scholar-athlete, also played tennis and soccer for the Cougars. In tennis, she received first-team all-conference accolades two straight years, and is currently 36-0 and ranked No. 1 this season in the Valley League.

The Aztecs will host the 2005 All-San Diego Fall Tournament this weekend at SDSU Softball Stadium with their first game scheduled for a 5 p.m. Friday start against UC San Diego. Admission to all fall softball events are free and the games do not count towards the 2006 season record.
