SDSU WINDS UP PAC-10 ROAD SCHEDULE AT CAL AND STANFORD
*San Diego State will conclude the away portion of its 2005 Pac-10 Conference schedule this weekend as it travels to northern California for a pair of matches.
*The trip begins with a visit to Berkeley where the Aztecs will face 10th-ranked California on Friday, Nov. 4, at 2:00 p.m. (PST). Two days later (Sunday, Nov. 6), SDSU will be in Palo Alto to take on Stanford at 1:00 p.m. (PST).

SERIES HISTORY
*San Diego State holds a slim 11-10-1 advantage over California in a series that began in 1974. Over the 22 matches, SDSU has out-scored the Bears 38-36. Cal has won the last three of the last four meetings with the Aztecs', but SDSU defeated Cal, 1-0, in San Diego on Oct. 2 on a goal in the final seconds of the match. The Aztecs are 4-8 in games played in Berkeley.
*San Diego State leads the series against Stanford 5-1-4. The teams' first meeting came in 1976 and they have not faced each other since the 1996 season. The Aztecs are 3-1-1 against the Cardinal in five meetings in Palo Alto. The teams tied earlier this season, 1-1, in the match at SDSU on Sept. 30.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
*California enters the week with an 11-3-1 mark and sits in second place in the Pac-10 standings at 4-3-0. Cal averages a league-leading 1.84 goals per game led by senior forward Calen Carr (9g, 2a) and defender Tyson Wahl (5g, 1a). The Bears have allowed just seven goals in their 15 matches with goalie Erik Kronberg sporting a 0.48 goals against average.
*Stanford enters the week with a mark of 4-9-2 (1-5-1 Pac-10) with its lone league win a 3-2 upset in overtime at Oregon State. The Cardinal will host UCLA on Friday (Nov. 4) prior to facing SDSU. Leading scorers include midfielders Marcus Ryan (4g, 1a) and Galen Thompson (2g, 1a). Goalkeeper Andrew Kartunen has a goals against average of 0.98.

LAST WEEK
*The Aztecs notched a tie and a win in a pair of Pac-10 games last weekend. On Friday, they played 110 scoreless minutes against Washington for the second time this season in a 0-0 draw. SDSU goalkeeper Tally Hall recorded the shutout, his 11th of the season, while making three saves on the afternoon.
*On Sunday, SDSU got a pair of first-half goals from senior Heath Creager as it defeated Oregon State, 2-1. Senior defender Eric Santiago had the assist on both goals. The victory avenged an earlier SDSU loss to OSU, the lone blemish on the team's record in 2005. Tall Hall had a half dozen saves with UW's goal coming on a direct free kick.

AZTECS IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
*With three matches played since the previous national polls were released, San Diego State advanced in the rankings in the three of the four national polls. The Aztecs moved up in College Soccer News, Soccer America and Soccer Times. They are not ranked in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll.
*Those polls and where they may be found on the Internet are as follows:
College Soccer News (collegesoccernews.com) - 13th
Soccer Times (soccertimes.com) - 19th
Soccer America (socceramerica.com) - 16th
NSCAA (nscaa.com) - not ranked
*In addition, last week's regional rankings compiled by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) listed SDSU seventh in the Far West. This week's regional rankings are not yet available.

Shots on Goal Save Percentage - 1st (0.905)
Shutout Percentage - 2nd (0.73)
W-L-T Percentage - tie 11th (0.767)

SHUTOUT RECORD BROKEN
*With his shutout of Washington last Friday, SDSU goalie Tally Hall has set a new SDSU record for shutouts in a season with 11. Hall broke the old mark of 10 shutouts set by Bryan Finnerty during the 1989 campaign.
*San Diego State has recorded 11 shutouts in its 15 matches, the most in a season since the 1989 squad had the 11 over its 22 matches. The school record for shutouts in a season is 14, set by the 1988 squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. SDSU's 11 shutouts this fall ties for the third-most ever in a season by an Aztec squad since the program began back in 1968.

AZTEC NOTES
*SDSU's 9-1-5 record is its best after the first 15 games of the season since 1991 when they had a mark of 10-1-4 at the same point of the season. That year the Aztecs finished with a record of 10-4-4.
*SDSU's five ties this fall is a new school mark for ties in a season. Over the previous 37 seasons, SDSU had finished the year with four draws on seven occasions.
*The Aztecs' seven home wins this fall is the most in season since 1998 when they also recorded seven.
*The Aztecs have not given up a goal in the first half through their first 15 matches. The 19 goals they have scored this season surpasses their total for the 2004 campaign when they netted 16 in 19 games.
