SDSU Fall Tennis Classic Brackets

The San Diego State women's tennis team wrapped up day one action at its own Fall Tennis Classic Thursday at Aztec Tennis Center. For the day, San Diego State recorded three singles victories in three different singles draws.
In the Red singles draw, junior Alesya Vidov suffered a first round loss to Rice's Christine Dao, 7-5, 6-2, but came back to defeat Nora Quintal of New Mexico in the backdraw, 6-0, 6-3. In the bottom portion of the bracket, senior Dita Hauerlandova received a first-round bye and eventually fell to Long Beach State's Katy Williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
After dropping her first round Black singles match, sophomore Sisse Nielsen rebounded and defeated Alanna Rodgers of Rice, 6-2, 7-6(7), on the consolation side. Freshman Esther Cadua was not as fortunate as she was defeated in both of her matches in straight sets.
Junior Yuki Hagiwara cruised in her Gold bracket singles match as she downed New Mexico's Allison Davis in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Later in the day, lost a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Georgia Tech's Kacie Anson.
In doubles action, Hauerlandova/Nielsen lost their first round Red match 8-2 to the Rice pair of Kimberley Patenaude/Medeja Egic to place them in the backdraw. SDSU's other doubles team of Vidov/Cadua received a first-round bye and will begin Black doubles play tomorrow.
Day two of the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic will resume tomorrow with doubles at 9 a.m. and singles following immediately after.
