SDSU Women's Soccer Falls To UNLV, 3-0

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The San Diego State women's soccer team fell to UNLV, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas, Nev. The Aztecs (10-8-2, 2-3-2 Mountain West Conference) will head back to Las Vegas on Wednesday, where they will participate in the 2005 MWC tournament.

The Rebels' (10-6-3, 5-2 MWC) received two goals from Tanya Roberts and another from Haley Partridge en route to the victory. Katie Carney, Erica Frizzell and Nikki Olson each had one assist apiece.

For the match, UNLV outshot SDSU, 15-7, and owned a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore Ashley Tenn paced the Aztec offense with three shots and freshman Erika Sutton had two attempts.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cat Burson (4-4-2) played all 90 minutes and made three stops for SDSU, while the Rebels' Jenna Huff had three saves in 90 minutes.

Seedings for the MWC tournament will be announced Monday morning. Quarterfinal matches are set to begin on Wednesday with the semifinal games scheduled for Thursday. The championship game will be held at noon Saturday with the winner of the match receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The championship game will be shown on a tape-delay basis on CSTV on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. PDT.
