The San Diego State women's golf `B' team maintained its position in the overall standings, ending up in second place with a 36-hole score of 71-over 655 Tuesday at The Golf Mart/Lady Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif. Western Washington easily claimed the title at 50-over 634, while the Aztecs owned a comfortable five-stroke lead on the third place team, Chico State, at the par-73, 5,957-yard Fort Ord Golf Course.

Aztec freshman Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.) and senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) matched their scores from their first 18 holes on Monday, carding identical 14-over 160, to tie for eighth place. Freshman Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) improved her first round score by three strokes to end up tied for 20th with a 167, including an 82 in the final 18 holes. Redshirt freshman Amanda Egan (Benicia, Calif.) and sophomore MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) rounded out the Aztec contingent, finishing in 23rd (168) and 37th (172) place, respectively.

Western Washington's Katja Trygg claimed medalist honors by one stroke in the 116-golfer field, firing an 8-over 154, including a final-round 75.

San Diego State will be back in action for the final time this fall at the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course, Nov. 1-2.
