SAN DIEGO - San Diego State softball head coach Kathy Van Wyk has announced an eight-game fall schedule, highlighted by a trip to 11-time NCAA champion UCLA and the annual All San Diego Fall Tournament. The Aztecs will kick off their fall season with a 2 p.m. game against Palomar Junior College at SDSU Field on Oct. 26.

SDSU will then host Arizona Western Community College at 2 p.m. Friday and then head north for two games at UCLA (Oct. 29, 1 p.m.) and Cal State Northridge (Oct. 30, noon). The Bruins are coming off a season where they went 40-20 and finished runner-up in the NCAA tournament for the seventh time in their storied history. UCLA's 11 national championships are the most by any team.

After a week off, the Aztecs will return to SDSU Field for the San Diego Fall Tournament, schedule for the Nov. 11-12 weekend. Six schools in the San Diego area are scheduled to compete including SDSU, USD, Point Loma, UC San Diego, Palomar Junior College and Loyola Marymount.

The Aztecs play two games Nov. 11, against UC San Diego at 5 p.m. and USD at 7 p.m., and two on Nov. 12 versus Loyola Marymount (11 a.m.) and Point Loma Nazarene (3 p.m.).

Admission to all fall softball events are free and the games do not count towards the 2006 season record.
