San Diego State senior Dita Hauerlandova captured the consolation singles crown at the 2005 Wilson/ITA West Region Championships hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego Monday morning.

Hauerlandova, after losing her first round main draw singles match last Thursday, fought her way through the consolation bracket by winning five straight to reach the final. It was in her sixth match of the backdraw that she claimed the title as she defeated Camelia Todorova of Arizona, 6-2, 6-1.

The match, which was scheduled to be played at Barnes Tennis Center, was moved to Aztec Tennis Center on the campus of San Diego State University due to poor playing conditions at Barnes.

The senior from the Czech Republic also enjoyed success in doubles action as she and partner Sisse Nielsen reached the semifinals before losing to the eventual champions on Sunday.

The Aztecs are back in action Nov. 4-6 as they play host to the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic.
