LOS ANGELES - After waiting through several rain delays, San Diego State sophomore Robert Sabo (Rancho Mirage, Calif.) was defeated on Saturday by second-seeded Pedro Rico of Pepperdine, 7-5, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2005 Wilson/ITA West Regional Championships in Los Angeles. Saturday's tournament action began on the campus of Pepperdine University, before rainy conditions in the Malibu area forced the majority of the scheduled matches to be completed at the University of Southern California.

In consolation play, junior Anthony Gomez (Palm Desert, Calif.) suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of UC Santa Barbara's Nick Brotman, 6-2, 6-2. The first set was actually completed in the morning at Pepperdine before play was forced to resume at USC in the afternoon.

The Aztecs will travel across town next weekend to compete in the USD Torero Challenge, set for Oct. 29-31.
