SAN DIEGO - SINGLES DAY THREE RESULTS | DOUBLES DAY THREE RESULTS | CONSOLATION DAY THREE RESULTS
The San Diego State women's tennis doubles team of Dita Hauerlandova and Sisse Nielsen won both of their matches Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the 2005 Wilson/ITA West Region Championships hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego.
In the third round, the Aztec tandem continued their stellar play by defeating Sandra Rocha and Katy Williams of Long Beach State, 8-1, at Barnes Tennis Center. Then due to the damp weather conditions at Barnes, the tournament moved to Aztec Tennis Center on the campus of San Diego State University.
In the quarterfinals, Hauerlandova-Nielsen took on the tournament's eighth seed in Southern California's Anca Anasastasiu-Judy DeVera. The Aztec pair defeated them by a score of 8-4 to propel them into the semifinal round of the annual tournament.
Hauerlandova wasn't finished as she recorded a straight set, 6-3, 6-3, victory over Pepperdine's Merve Asimgil in the third round of the consolation draw. Since the senior from the Czech Republic had already played three matches, she was prevented from playing a fourth match along with another singles player and a doubles team.
Tomorrow, Hauerlandova and Nielsen will face Pepperdine's Asimgil and Silvia Kosakowski in the semifinals, while Hauerlandova will complete the third round of consolation play against Claire Smith of UNLV.
