SALT LAKE CITY - The San Diego State volleyball team fell to Utah, 3-1, Saturday night in Salt Lake City. With the victory, the Utes improved to 7-3 in the Mountain West Conference and 15-6 overall, while the Aztecs dropped to 12-9 and 4-4 on the season.

Melanie Greene led SDSU with a 12-kill, 12-dig performance for a double-double. Audra Dent had 13 kills and Lindsey Noll chipped in 10 for the Aztecs.

Aztec Aime Cordeiro finished with 31 digs on the night, adding to her league-leading average in that category. Cordeiro has now surpassed the 30-dig mark twice this season after recording a league-record 35 against UNLV.

Utah won the first two games, but the Aztecs came back to claim the third game, 30-20, thanks in part to a match-high .231 hitting percentage. SDSU almost pushed the match to a fifth game, but fell to the Utes by two (30-28) in the fourth.

Utah was led by Shelly Sommerfeldt (12 digs, 10 kills) and Airial Salvo (12 digs, 12 kills), who both notched double-doubles. Lori Baird had match highs of 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage.

The Aztecs return to San Diego for home matches next weekend against New Mexico (7 p.m. Friday) and Air Force (7 p.m. Saturday). Both contests will be played in Peterson Gym.
