FRESNO, Calif. - After closing out the first day of competition in the lead, the 17th-ranked San Diego State men's golf team fell to second place on the final day of play at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, held on the 6,776 yard, par-71 course at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
The Aztecs finished with a final team score of 283-284-298--865. This is SDSU's third consecutive second place finish in the Lexus Classic. SDSU has never placed below the top-5 in this tournament since the 1999-00 season.
Andrew Scott led the Aztecs with a 3-over-par final score of 216 and a sixth-place finish. Scott has led all Aztec players in the previous two appearances at the Lexus Classic, carding two consecutive second place finishes (2003, 2004).
Along with Scott, sophomore Aaron Goldberg and junior John Gray also finished in the top-10 today, tying for 7th with a 4-over, 217.
David Palm and Josh Warthen, who shared co-medalist honors at the Club Glove Intercollegiate last week, tied for 23rd after finishing 8-over par (221).
The Aztecs will return to play on Oct. 24-25 when they play host to the Barona Collegiate Cup at Lakeside, Calif.
