Head Coach Tom Craft

On the play of safety Marcus Demps last Saturday against San Jose State:
"The communication was very good and we have to have it from (the secondary) back there. He was playing his angles well and he was involved--reacting, recovering and involved directly in the action like he should be. (He needs to) stay around the football and be a leader in the communication area, but that was by far his best game Saturday night."

On the effect of BYU's new coaching staff on its offense:
"(There's been) quite a bit of change now and it starts in the offensive line. There's a significant change in the structure of the offensive line and the philosophy is to create wider edges for the ends, which makes it almost impossible to rush the quarterback. They're also throwing the ball a lot quicker this year. Last year, they dabbled in a spread offense, as well as the "T" with the tight end and closing the line of scrimmage, trying to take shots (down the field) and the power running.

"This year, they run more of the spread offense with really wide splits on the offensive line. So there's been quite a bit of change philosophically on how they approach the passing game. (Cougar quarterback John) Beck is throwing the ball much quicker and he's got some great weapons. They've got great team speed, not good, it's great. After looking at the (TCU-BYU game) film, it's very obvious that those two teams are very similar and they've got great athleticism and team speed. They're also very big with 300 pound-plus linemen on both sides--offense and defense."
