SAN DIEGO - San Diego State midfielder Kraig Chiles has been named to the National Team of the Week by College Soccer News. The sophomore from San Diego (Poway HS) was honored for his performance in SDSU's wins over Alabama A&M and Duquesne last week.

Against the Bulldogs last Thursday, Chiles converted a penalty kick with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to give the Aztecs a 1-0 win.

On Sunday, he scored a pair of second-half goals to led San Diego State to a 3-0 win over a Duquesne team that was ranked third in the middle Atlantic Region.

Chiles has scored five goals in SDSU's last three contests and leads the Aztecs with six on the season.

San Diego State (6-0-1) is off to its best start since the 1991 campaign and is ranked 24th in the nation this week by College Soccer News.

The Aztecs open their inaugural Pac-10 season when Stanford visits the SDSU Sports Deck this Friday, Sept. 30, at 4:00 p.m.
