SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's golf team opened up the first day of the 2005 campaign in 10th out of a field of 20 teams at the William H. Tucker tournament in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Aztecs, who were tied for fourth at the end of the first round, ended the first day of play with a team score of 13-over, 588.

Leading the Aztecs was senior Andrew Scott. Scott, who carded an even-par, 72 on the first round, struggled during the second round bogeying five times on the front 9 and double bogeyed on the back 9, to end the day tied for 29th. Scott (+3) is just eight shots behind tournament leader Andres Gonzalez (UNLV), who leads the field with a 5-under, 139.

Junior John Gray and sophomores Aaron Goldberg and David Palm, finished tied for 37th in a field of 104 competitors, each respectively carding a 148 (+4). Senior Josh Warthen finished tied at 54th with a 6-over, 150.
