SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team finished its second to last practice today before its season home-opener against UCLA this Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium.

Tickets for the game can still be purchased at the ticket window E at Qualcomm Stadium, by calling (619) 283 SDSU (7378) or by logging on to goaztecs.com.

Quoting Aztecs' Head Coach Tom Craft:

On Emil's Metroka's status:
"He's cleared for pads now, but I don't anticipate him being available, probably for another week or two."

On team development:
"It hit me three years ago at Qualcomm Stadium how far we were from being at that level that we should be at, and I think we've been getting closer to that level recently. When building the team, you do it with the personality of your team and recruiting, and we've come closer to closing the gap and every year's a little different; this year we have a lot of new faces and opportunities."

On running backs:
"We will be starting with Lynell Hamilton, then we'll see from there. Michael Franklin and Brandon Bornes will also be involved in some capacity. Brandon's got a little more to do because sometimes he'll end up being a half back or full back at times; it'll all start with 22 first. Alex Thompson will also have a role, and his availability will always be there, but it starts with Lynell, then will be a combination of Franklin and Bornes. Alex will probably be playing H-back and tailback most of the time."
