SAN DIEGO - After the San Diego State defense dominated the first half of play, the Aztec offense came to life with six touchdowns and a field goal Saturday in front of 2,381 at the Family Day Scrimmage in Qualcomm Stadium.

The defense held the offense scoreless in its first nine possessions, despite the offense starting on its own 40-yard line. The defense tallied a pair of interceptions over that span with one each by safeties Brett Sturm and Reggie Grigsby.

The offense finally found the endzone when Brandon Bornes went in from one-yard out. The defense, however, held firm the very next possession, keeping the offense from scoring on four consecutive plays from within the four-yard line.

The Aztecs posted their first significant scoring drive when Kevin O'Connell found Jeff Webb on a 42-yard pass play. Bornes then notched his second touchdown of the afternoon on an 11-yard run.

The offense capped the day with a 40-yard Garrett Palmer field goal and three rushing touchdowns runs of 84 yards by Michael Franklin, 25 yards by Attiyah Henderson and three yards by Matt Dlugolecki.

In all, the offense ran for 298 yards on 53 carries, while O'Connell completed 11 of his 22 passes for a team-best 111 yards passing. Webb was the top receiver with two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, linebacker Brett Martin had a team-high seven tackles, including six solo efforts. Four players had five tackles each and senior defensive end Kurt Kahui recorded two of the team's three sacks.
