SAN DIEGO - San Diego State athletics will kick off the 2005-06 season with Aztec Day at the Races on Aug. 28 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (DMTC). Tickets are $20 and include admission to the races, a race day program, entrance to the Pacific Pavilion, lunch and a raffle ticket for SDSU/DMTC prizes.
Guest speakers at the event will include Aztec football head coach Tom Craft and women's basketball head coach Beth Burns. The SDSU pep band, cheer squad and dance team will perform in between races.
As part of the day's festivities, the DMTC will name a race in honor of SDSU where representatives of Aztec athletics will present the winning owner a trophy in the winner's circle.
The pavilion opens at 12:30 p.m. with the first race scheduled for 2 p.m. Lunch will be served from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
