SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team will kickoff its 2005 campaign on Sept. 3, in a nationally-televised game against UCLA at Qualcomm Stadium. The contest will be broadcast by ESPN2, beginning at 7 p.m. (PDT).

"We're extremely excited to start our 2005 football season with a marquee opponent in a nationally-televised home game," SDSU interim athletic director Steve Becvar said. "Equally important is the fact that we were able to secure such a fan-friendly time slot this early in the year."

The Aztecs and Bruins will meet for the 21st time overall and for the fourth straight year. The last time the two sides squared off in San Diego was in 2002, which was also televised on ESPN2.

In addition, SDSU set game times for its second and third home contests of the 2005 campaign.

Kick-off for the San Jose State game on Sept. 24, which will feature the 30th annual KGB SkyShow, presented by Barona Valley Ranch, is slated for 5 p.m. In its first year of playing host to the KGB SkyShow, SDSU set a single-game home attendance record with 57,216 fans in a win over Idaho State in 2004.

The Aztecs start their 2005 Mountain West Conference home schedule on Oct. 1, against long-time rival Brigham Young, beginning at 7 p.m.
