WOODLAND, Calif. - Junior driver Rachel Serna has been named to the 2005 all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honorable mention water polo squad. The accolade is the first of her career and comes one week after being named MPSF player of the week for the period ending April 25.

Serna started 32 of the 33 games in which she played and ended the season with a team-leading 65 goals and a team-best goal percentage of .425. She ranks eighth in San Diego State history with 65 goals in a season. In addition to her scoring efforts, Serna amassed 30 steals, good for fourth on the team, and 11 assists.

Over the course of the 2005 campaign, the Coronado, Calif., native led the team in scoring 13 times and recorded three or more goals on 12 different occasions.

Serna also shared Aztec individual game-highs for goals scored (five) and shot attempts (10). In addition, Serna posted three of the team's seven 3-for-3 (1.000) shooting performances of the season.

No. 13 San Diego State finished the year 16-18 overall (3-9 MPSF) and finished seventh at the MPSF Championship last weekend in Berkeley, Calif., after upsetting sixth-ranked UC Santa Barbara in the first round and defeating No. 18 Cal State Northridge to close out the tournament.
