SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to 42nd-ranked Pepperdine Wednesday afternoon at SDSU Tennis Stadium. The loss is the Aztecs' third straight and puts them at 10-8 on the season, while the Waves improve to 11-6 overall.

SDSU lost the doubles point despite Pepperdine defaulting at No. 3. The Aztec duo of Alesya Vidov and Dita Hauerlandova fell to the team of Eva Dickes-Bianca Dulgheru, 8-4, at the top position. Andrea Hermansen and Eliska Krausova suffered the same fate as they, too, lost 8-4, at No. 2.

In singles, the Waves defaulted at No. 6 to automatically tie the match at one apiece. But Pepperdine recaptured the lead when it claimed wins at the top two spots. At No. 1, 55th-ranked Dulgheru posted a, 6-2, 6-2, victory over Vidov and Sylvia Kosakowski took down Hauerlandova in straight sets.

The Aztecs got on the scoreboard when Sisse Nielsen defeated Vanessa Dunlap, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6, but the Waves clinched the match when Dickes notched a, 6-2, 6-4, win over Nina Spaeth at No. 3.

SDSU received its final point when Krausova beat Merve Asimgil at No. 4 by a score of 6-3, 6-3.

San Diego State will be in action this weekend as it continues Mountain West Conference play. The Aztecs will face Wyoming this Saturday and Colorado State on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. MST starts and will take place in Fort Collins, Colo.
