ST. GEORGE, UTAH - The San Diego State women's golf team stands in 11th place with a 54-over par 342, after 18 holes of the BYU Dixie Classic Monday in St. George, Utah. Poor weather conditions, including rain and 40 mile per hour winds, forced the cancellation of the day's second round at the par-72, 6,151-yard Entrada golf course at Snow Canyon. UNLV leads the 14-team field by 10 strokes with a 32-over 320, while SDSU is just three strokes out of ninth place.
The Aztecs had a pair of golfers, freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) and sophomore Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.), finish at 10-over par with matching scores of 82 to tie for 15th on the individual leader board.
Kazarian had three of the team's five birdies on the day, before bogeying her final four holes to finish with an 82. Oliver, meanwhile, overcame a sluggish start through her first six holes, before posting a birdie and five pars in her next eight. Oliver ended the day with a bogey in four straight holes to card an 82.
Senior Toni Lutz (Anaheim, Calif.), competing in her third straight BYU Dixie Classic, is just one stroke behind her two teammates at 11-over 83 to tie for 22nd. Freshman MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) had a rough first five holes and ended the day with a 95, tying for 70th overall.
UNLV's Hwanhee Lee leads the 78-golfer field with a three-over 75, just two strokes better than her nearest rival, Boise State's Jenny Judd. Two players are currently tied for third with identical first round scores of 78.
The Aztecs are scheduled to tee-off for Tuesday's second and final round between 8:40 and 9:12 a.m. (MDT).
