BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 13 San Diego State water polo team fell to host California in MPSF Tournament action in Berkeley, Calif., on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the 10th-seeded Aztecs (15-18) will now face fifth-seeded Long Beach State (21-8) in the seventh-place game at the Spieker Aquatic Complex at 11 a.m. Sunday.

After being down three goals at halftime, SDSU outscored the eighth-ranked Golden Bears (17-10), 2-0, in third quarter to close the gap to one goal (6-5). Cal rebounded in the fourth quarter, however, outscoring the Aztecs, 3-2, to finish with the 9-7 victory.

SDSU received two goals apiece from Elana Cervantes, Rachel Serna and Stacy Werner. Ashley McCullum also had a goal, while Sarah Kilgore played all 28 minutes and registered five saves.

The Aztecs have faced Long Beach State twice this season, losing both times by one goal. On Feb. 6, SDSU dropped a 7-6 decision at the UC San Diego Invitational and came away with a 6-5 loss on March 20 in Long Beach.
