SDSU got to within 12-10 with a run in the bottom of the inning before the Rebels added five more to their total over the final three frames.

Trailing 17-11 heading in their last at bat, the Aztecs fought back with three in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate before Rebel reliever Kyle Tabeek got a double play and a ground out to end the contest.

Aztec junior right-hander Will Miller, who had come on in relief of Suwyn in the sixth with SDSU holding a 9-7, took the loss to fall to 0-3. UNLV's Matt Chalfant (1-0) was the pitcher of record for the Rebels as he picked up his first win of the season.

Left fielder Garrick Evans led the Aztec offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate and scoring four times. Senior Jake McLintock had three hits and recorded another pair of runs batted in to move within two of the SDSU career RBI mark.
