<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>San Diego State softball dropped a pair of games at hot-hitting BYU, falling 6-0 in game one and 9-4 in the game two, with the Cougars hitting six total home runs. The Aztecs fall to 23-23, 1-11 in the Mountain West, while BYU improves to 34-9, 11-1 in the MWC.

In the first contest, BYU used a power display to knock out the Aztecs, hitting two home runs on the way to six runs and five extra base hits, while the SDSU bats remained cold, scratching out four hits and stranding six runners.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

The Cougars scored their runs in the third with a two-run, two-out single, in the fourth on a solo home run, in the fifth on an RBI single and in the sixth on a two-run home run. Paige Paramore led BYU with a 2-for-3 showing, driving in three. Summer Tobias improved to 15-4 on the year, tossing a complete-game four-hitter.

Celena Velasquez (11-9) took the loss for the Aztecs, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out two. Katie Cochran pitched the final inning, allowing two runs on two hits. Amanda Beasley led SDSU at the plate with a 2-for-2 showing, including a walk. Allison Smith hit a first inning double for the Aztecs.

The Cougars weren't done however, as in game two BYU hit four more home runs, including two by Ianeta Le'i, to power past SDSU 9-4. Cori Janelli (9-12) took the loss for the Aztecs, giving up eight runs, four earned, on five hits in two innings of work. Cochran pitched the final four innings of the game, holding the BYU at bay with one run and one hit, both coming on a solo home run from Paramore in the fifth inning.

The Aztec offense finally awoke, scoring 4 runs on 11 hits despite stranding eight runners, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Cougars.

Chrissie Markham and Taryin Casillas were 3-for-4 with a run scored a piece to lead SDSU at the plate. Also strong for the Aztecs was Tamani Wells, who was 2-for-4, and Bree Boyer, who was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The Aztecs will travel to Utah for the final conference road doubleheader of the season, taking on the Utes in a Saturday afternoon tilt in Salt Lake City.
