SDSU To Play Three Games At Long Beach State Invitational
* After completing its recent three-game homestand with a record of 1-2, No. 11 San Diego State (11-13, 2-9 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) will hit the road for the final time before the MPSF Championships to play in the Long Beach State Invitational.
In the two-day event, the Aztecs will face some familiar foes in Cal State Bakersfield and Michigan. SDSU faced the Roadrunners in the first game of the season at the UCSD Invitational (W, 11-4) and earned a 6-5 overtime win over the Wolverines at the UCSB Invitational. In between those games, the Aztecs will play Hatwick College in the second game on Saturday.
After the trip north, SDSU will return home for its final two games of the regular season. On April 22, the annual Harper Cup versus UCSD will take place and on April 24, the team's three seniors will play in their last home contest against conference opponent Arizona State.
SDSU Puts Its Eight-Match Winning Streak on the Line This Week
* The 41st-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team (12-5, 3-0 Mountain West Conference) will put its eight-match winning streak on the line when it plays at Denver this Thursday. Following the trip to Denver, the Aztecs will then travel to nearby Colorado Springs, Colo., for a neutral site match versus No. 59 New Mexico on Saturday and then will close out the conference regular season with a contest at No. 68 Air Force. The final two conference matches will decide the MWC regular season championship as the Lobos are 1-1 in league play and the Falcons are 0-2.
SDSU Hosts Long Beach State Before Closing MWC Play At The Two Utah Schools
* San Diego State (12-8; 3-2 Mountain West Conference) returns home from its successful trip to Colorado to host Long Beach State Tuesday on Senior Day. Indra Erichsen, the lone senior will be playing in her final home match of her career. The match, which was twice rescheduled due to inclement weather, is slated for a 2 p.m. start at SDSU Tennis Stadium.
After its last home match of season, SDSU will take on the Utah schools, Utah and Brigham Young, on Friday and Saturday to wrap up conference play.
Aztecs Stay In California For Prestigious Mt. SAC Relays
* The San Diego State women's track and field team makes its annual trip north for the 47th running of the Mt. SAC Relays, scheduled for April 13-17 in Walnut, Calif.
Some of the top names in the world have particpated at Mt. SAC in the past, including Marion Jones, who competed in the 200 last year. Over 150 colleges from across the nation will send representatives to the non-team scoring event. Competitors from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Great Britain, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Sweden and Venezuela will also be competing as well.
* The action begins with the heptathlon, which will take place at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., Wednesday at 8 a.m. The heptathlon will conclude a day later, also starting at 8 a.m.
* The rest of the meet will take place back in Walnut, Calif., at Mt. SAC's Hilmer Lodge Stadium. The running events will be split three ways, with the distance events on Friday, the middle distance on Saturday and the sprints and relays on Sunday.
SDSU Crew to Row in Miller Cup Regatta
* The San Diego State women's crew team will compete in the Miller Cup Regatta at La Balonia Creek in Marina Del Rey, Calif., on Saturday. Competition begins at 7 a.m. with the final race scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. All races are 1,750 meters.
* SDSU will send four boats: varsity four, novice eight, junior varsity eight and varsity eight. There are two heats in each event with the heat winner and next fastest time advancing to the grand final with petite finals also being held in each event.
