Rewind: Windermere Cup
•The San Diego State lightweight boat competed in the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic at Redwood Shores, Calif., last weekend. The Windermere Cup featured Henley style racing, a one-on-one or a two-boat race used for competition at the famous Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England.
After the host Stanford Cardinal (7 minutes, 5.83 seconds) defeated the Aztecs (7:16.59) earlier on Saturday morning, the boat, consisting of senior Amanda Bremseth, juniors Vanessa Kenley, Coby Vandenberg and Rachael Vrooman, and sophomores Jenny Allen, Caitlin Carrion (coxswain), Deidra Little, Ashley Pfohl and Lynda Shuker, bounced back to defeat California in its final race of the day. SDSU raced to a time of 7:27.88, almost 11 seconds ahead of the Golden Bears (7:38.81).
On Sunday, Wisconsin (6:42.33) led by six seconds after the first split and never looked back to win the race over the Aztecs (7:13.64).
The San Diego City Championships, which would have featured the SDSU varsity, junior varsity and novice eight boats, and the varsity and novice four boats, were cancelled on Saturday due to high winds and unsafe conditions. However, the three schools - SDSU, USD and UCSD - will compete in a scrimmage versus each other on Tuesday morning.

A Look Back: 2004 Miller Cup Regatta
• Last year at the Miller Cup Regatta, the novice eight boat fell just short of UCLA in the grand final, 6:48.3-6:51.8. The junior varsity eight also placed second to the Bruins in the grand final, 6:42.2 to 6:56.3, but did outpace Loyola Marymount (6:58.7). The novice four boat, racing as a varsity boat, won the petite final to finish fourth overall. The varsity eight boat was second in their heat but had to scratch out of the petite final due to injury. All races were 1,750 meters in length.
