SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State athletic department has announced that approximately 500 all-session tickets to the NCAA Men's Basketball Division I Championship, first and second rounds, will be made available to the public on Thursday morning at 9 a.m.

The NCAA basketball tournament returns to Cox Arena March 16 and 18, 2006. SDSU last hosted the event in 2001 and was the first NCAA site to announce a sellout.

In order to purchase tickets, fans must first complete an NCAA ticket order form and submit it, along with a check, cash or credit card, to the Aztec ticket office located at Qualcomm Stadium, ticket window E. No submissions will be accepted prior to 9 a.m. Thursday, and each request has a limit of 10 tickets. The ticket form will be available at the Aztec ticket office and on goaztecs.com on Thursday morning.

The order forms will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. All fans submitting an order form will be notified by June 1 of the status of their request and those awarded tickets will receive them in the mail by Jan. 31. The seats remaining for the tournament are all bench seating (top rows above the chair back areas) of Cox Arena.

San Diego State expects that ticket requests will far outnumber the number of tickets available for the event. Cox Arena has a normal seating capacity of 12,414. Due to media and visiting bands for the first and second rounds, that capacity drops to 11,700 for the NCAA Tournament and over 3,700 of the remaining tickets are committed to the NCAA and visiting teams.

The all-session tickets (six games) cost $165.
