In the first game of the day for SDSU, Bree Boyer had a pair of RBI and Katie Cochran was effective in 4.2 innings, picking up the win over Towson.

SDSU got on the board quickly in the first, as Erin Mahoney walked, and then promptly stole second and third base, scoring on an RBI grounder by Allison Smith that the Tigers misplayed. The Aztecs followed the feat with a run in the second on an RBI-single from Meagan Hartung, scoring Kristen Carranza from second base.

Towson closed the gap with a double and an RBI-single an inning later, but SDSU pused the lead to 4-1 in the fourth on base hit by Carranza, a fielder's choice by Chrissie Markham and a two-out RBI-single from Boyer. Towson picked up a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Aztecs were able to score an insurance run in the seventh on a Carranza RBI-groundout, scoring Dani Sidoti from third. Celena Velasquez picked up her fifth save, matching her mark from last season, with a perfect 2.1 innings of relief.

In the final game of the day, SDSU pounded out a season-high 14 hits and used Cori Janelli's near-no-hitter to rout the Lancers, 10-1, in five innings. Smith led the output with a 3-for-4 showing, including an RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Janelli worked all five frames, fanning seven and allowing only one hit.

The Aztecs opened the scoring in the second on a Jamie Burton two-out two-RBI single, plating Chrissie Markahm and Meagan Hartung. In the fourth, SDSU netted four more runs on a pair of two-run home runs from Megan McDonald and Markham, her first career homer, scoring Smith and Carranza in the process.

An inning later the Aztecs removed all doubt, sending nine to the plate and picking up four more runs on six hits. Amanda Beasley belted an RBI-single, scoring Erin Mahoney and Smith slammed another single, plating Tamani Wells. The big blast was Carranza's two-RBI single, scoring Smith and Beasley.

Janelli took a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth, but a one-out triple and subsequent fielder's choice broke the no-no and the shutout.

On the day, SDSU was led by Smith, who was 4-for-8 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Carranza who was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI.

The Aztecs take on Oregon at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the final day of the SDSU Classic.
