SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds at the Donnis Thompson Invitational Tuesday in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The Aztecs improved their team score by seven strokes from the first to the second round, posting a 36-hole total of 695 (+119) at the par-72, 5,829-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
SDSU is just one stroke behind sixth place Weber State, while No. 22 Washington State leads the nine team field with a two-round total of 649 (+73), including a 310 in the first 18 holes.
The Aztecs have been led by freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.), who is tied for 13th place with a 22-over 166. Kazarian's classmate, Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), is just three strokes behind with a 169.
Sophomore Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) is tied for 30th with a 36-hole score of 176, while senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) and freshman MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) both struggled in day one action and are 40th and 47th respectively.
In her first tournament of the spring season, senior co-captain Veronica Ojeda (San Diego, Calif.) is competing as an individual and is tied for 22nd with a 171. Ojeda notched the Aztecs' best round of the day, posting a nine-over 81 in the first 18 holes.
Hawai'i's Dale Gammie is first on the individual leader board with a 14-over 158, notching a pair of 79s. Two Washington State players are tied for second, just one stroke behind Gammie.
Wednesday's third and final round is set for a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (HT).
