MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The San Diego State men's tennis team fell for a second straight day at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, this time dropping a 4-2 decision to Brown. The Aztecs, who lost to Rice yesterday by the same score, fall to 4-5 on the season.
Earning the doubles point has been a problem for San Diego State as of late and today was no exception. The Aztecs picked up an 8-3 win from Benedikt Stronk and Armando Carrascosa at No. 1, but could not pull through with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 to claim the point.
In singles, 79th-ranked Markus Dickhart chalked up another win, defeating Eric Thomas, 6-2, 7-5, at number three. Teammate Dontia Haynes also won his match at No. 4 by beating Rich Moss by a score of, 6-1, 6-3.
Unfortunately, Stronk's match with Adil Shamasdin at No. 1 was abandoned and Daniel Jung lost in three sets, 6-2, 6-7(6), 4-6, to hand the dual match to the Bears.
Day three of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic continues tomorrow in Montgomery, Ala.
