SAN DIEGO - The 25th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team lost its second consecutive match Thursday afternoon, 5-2, to No. 41 Rice at SDSU Tennis Stadium. The loss drops the Aztecs to 7-5 overall, while the Owls improve to 8-4.

In doubles play, the No. 1 SDSU team of Dita Hauerlandova and Alesya Vidov posted an 8-6 win over Kimberley Patenaude and Blair DiSesa. Unfortunately, it would be the only victory on the day for the Aztecs as the Owls claimed wins at No. 2 and 3 to take the doubles point.

SDSU did not fair much better in singles, only winning two of the six matches. Hauerlandova, coming off her first Mountain West Conference player of the week award, continued her outstanding play by defeating Patenaude at No. 2, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0. The other singles victory for the Aztecs came at No. 6 where freshman Nina Spaeth recorded her seventh consecutive win, beating Medeja Egic, 6-1, 6-3.

The Aztecs will return to action March 15, when they host Tulsa at SDSU Tennis Stadium. The contest is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
