SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's 68th-ranked women's tennis team defeated Loyola Marymount, 5-2, at SDSU Tennis Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The win was the Aztecs' second consecutive and improves their record to 5-3 on the year.

SDSU started the afternoon off by taking the doubles point behind the strength of three victories.

Indra Erichsen and Andrea Hermansen beat LMU's number one doubles team of Carla Arguelles-Kimi Kaloi, 9-7, to improve to 5-2 on the season. At number two, Alesya Vidov and Dita Hauerlandova handed Tamara Tanner and Serena Fermin an 8-5 loss, while Sisse Nielsen and Nina Spaeth won, 8-1, at number three.

In singles action, the Lions' Arguelles and Fermin captured a pair of wins at the top two positions, but the Aztecs fought back with four straight wins.

Hermansen won at number three, 7-5, 6-2, over LMU's Tanner. At the four position, Erichsen downed Kaloi, in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6.

At the bottom of the lineup, San Diego State's two freshmen won their matches with ease. The Lions' Patrycia Hubl fell to Eliska Krausova, 6-4, 6-4, and Nielsen had no problem with LMU's Robyn Baker at number six.

With the victory, the Aztecs are now 13-1 all-time against Loyola Marymount.

The Aztecs will be in action this Thursday when they take on 28th-ranked Michigan at 1 p.m.
