EUGENE, Ore. - San Diego State's 67th-ranked women's tennis team lost to No. 27 Oregon, 4-3, Sunday at the Student Tennis Center. The Aztecs (3-2) finished the two-match road trip at 1-1, having beat Texas Tech Saturday. Meanwhile, the Ducks stay undefeated upping their record to 7-0.
Oregon started the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. No. 45 Daria Panova and Dominika Dieskova defeated SDSU's Dita Hauerlandova and Alesya Vidov and number one, 8-6. Then at number three, Davina Mendiburu and Ester Bak downed the Aztecs' Sisse Nielsen and Nina Spaeth, 8-6. The lone SDSU doubles win was at number two when Indra Erichsen and Andrea Hermansen beat Oregon's Anna Leksinka and Jamie Marshall, 9-7.
In singles, Oregon won the top three positions to clinch the dual-match despite SDSU winning the last three matches. Hermansen won in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6, at number four to defeat the Ducks' Marshall. Spaeth followed up with a 6-7, 6-3, (10-6) victory of her own at number five. And lastly, Eliska Krausova, in her first competitive action of the season, took down Oregon's Bak, 6-3, 7-6.
The Aztecs return home to face Long Beach State on Feb. 10 at SDSU Tennis Stadium. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
