EUGENE, Ore. - San Diego State's 67th-ranked women's tennis team defeated Texas Tech, 4-3, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools in Eugene, Ore. The Aztecs improve their record to 3-1 on the season, while the Red Raiders fall to 0-2.

SDSU won the doubles point after two victories at number two and three doubles. The freshman duo of Nina Spaeth and Sisse Nielsen beat Janet Durham and Erin Hunter of Texas Tech at number three, 8-6.

In singles play, junior Dita Hauelandova won at number one by defeating Tara Browning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. At number four, junior Andrea Hermansen beat Katja Kovacic, 6-4, 6-3. Spaeth helped the Aztecs clinch the dual-match at number five by winning 5-7, 6-0, 6-4, over Texas Tech's Lakann Wagley.

San Diego State returns to the court Sunday when it faces No. 27 Oregon at 10 a.m. in Eugene, Ore.
