SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - The San Diego State men's golf team concluded its first tournament of the spring season with a sixth-place finish in the strong 21-team field at the John Burns Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii.

The Aztecs closed the tournament with a final round of 283 (five-under-par) on the heels of 280 and 280 on Wednesday and Thursday. Fourth-ranked New Mexico won the event with an 833, 31 under par. UNLV featured the individual champion with Ryan Moore's 20-under performance, including a 64 on Friday.

San Diego State's Aaron Choi and Andrew Scott both shot a 69 on Friday and both finished the tournament with a 208, good enough for 12th place in the individual race and eight under for the tournament.

The event was held at the Leilehua Golf Course in Schofield Barracks. The Aztecs won the John Burns in 2002 and finished second in 2003. This year's field included five teams ranked among the nation's top 25,
