LARAMIE, Wyo. - Jay Straight scored 18 points, including two free throws with 20 seconds left, in leading Wyoming over San Diego State 69-65 Monday night.
Wyoming (15-10 overall, 7-5 Mountain West Conference) snapped a two-game losing streak, while SDSU (10-14, 4-7) took its third straight loss.
Straight, who also had six assists to tie the conference's career assist mark of 439, sank his free throws after Trimaine Davis pulled the Aztecs to within 65-63 with two foul shots of his own with 51 seconds remaining.
Brandon Heath, who led SDSU with 14 points, scored with 4 seconds to go, but Wyoming's Dion Sherrell finished off the Aztecs with two more free throws a second later.
Wyoming made 21 of 23 free throws in the game. SDSU was 12-of-18.
The Cowboys, who led 35-26 at the half, also got 12 points from reserve Kevin Lewis, who entered the game averaging 4.6 points, 11 from Sherrell and 10 from Justin Williams.
Davis, John Sharper and Matt Thomas added 11 each for SDSU.
