LAS VEGAS - UNLV broke open a close game with a 13-2 run late in the first half and never looked back en route to a 77-54 victory over the San Diego State women's basketball team at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Michelle Elliott (Pasco, Wash.) led the Aztecs with 16 points, including four three-pointers, in 35 minutes of action. Freshman Marin McCue (Calgary, Alberta) had eight points and senior Lindsey Casey (Odessa, Texas) contributed six points before fouling out late in the second half.

The Lady Rebels outrebounded the Aztecs, 46-18, and shot 57.1 percent from the field, while limiting SDSU to 34 percent shooting, including 22.7 percent (5-of-22) in the first half. SDSU managed only one field goal, a three-pointer by Elliott, the final 9:59 of the first session.

Randee Henry had a double-double with game-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead UNLV. Sheena Moore (12 pts.) and Brittney Thomas (11 pts.) were the other top scorers for the Lady Rebels.

The Aztecs will play host to Wyoming in a Mountain West Conference game at 7 p.m. Friday at Cox Arena.
