The Wildcats fall to 0-7 on the season. Rain cancelled the second game of the day for SDSU and host No. 6 Stanford, no makeup has been announced.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

SDSU fell behind to Kentucky in the top of the second inning, when the Wildcats put together a double, sacrifice bunt and single to go up 1-0. The Aztecs dropped even further back in the third when Amber Janneck sent a two-run shot to dead centerfield to send Kentucky ahead 3-0 and chasing starter Katie Cochran from the game in favor of Celena Velasquez.

Velasquez held down the Wildcats for the remainder of the game while the SDSU bats waited for the chance to pounce. Following a fourth-inning solo-homerun by freshman Taryin Casillas, and another solo shot by Megan Hartung in the sixth, opportunity came.

Senior centerfielder Erin Mahoney singled to leftfield, forcing Kentucky starter Kristi Warneke from the game, then Casillas knocked another single and advanced to second on an error by the leftfielder. After a strikeout, freshman Kristen Carranza stepped to the plate for the second game in a row and got what would be a game-winning hit on a slow roller to second that drove in the Aztecs final two runs of the day.

Velasquez improved to 3-0 on the season with a four-inning relief effort, including five strikeouts and no walks. Casillas picked up her second homerun of the year and Hartung her first.

The Aztecs continue play in the Stanford Tournament Saturday, with a 9 a.m. game with DePaul, followed by an 11 a.m. rematch with No. 21 Long Beach State.
