Aztecs Return Home For A Doubleheader Against UC Riverside, Northern Arizona On Saturday
* The No. 71 San Diego State men's tennis team (0-1) returns home to face UC Riverside (1-1) and Northern Arizona (0-1) on Saturday after beginning the 2005 campaign on the road last weekend. The UC Riverside match is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start, followed by Northern Arizona at 2:30 p.m.
This is third meeting between the Aztecs and Highlanders since 1996 and the first since the 2001 campaign. In the previous two meetings, SDSU has defeated UCR, 7-0, in 2000 and 6-1, in 2001.
The Lumberjacks will be facing the Aztecs for the first time in school history.
After a brief two match homestand, the Aztecs will head back to Los Angeles to face UCLA on Feb. 4.
Scouting the Highlanders
* UC Riverside is 1-1 on the season after falling to the Air Force Academy, 5-2, in their season opener and defeating St. Mary's (CA), 4-3, on Sunday.
The Highlanders are led by junior Norman Tam and sophomore Mark Contreras. The lone senior on the squad is Jeremy Owens, a junior college transfer from Palomar Junior College in nearby San Marcos.
Scouting the Lumberjacks
* The Lumberjacks are coming off a season opening 5-2 loss to No. 26 Arizona back on Jan. 16.
Northern Arizona is led by its four seniors, Jeremy Coll, Jonas Jegers, Jamie Maxwell and Thibault Schram. Also on the roster is San Diego native Ronnie Tuttle. Tuttle, a 2003 graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School, is a freshman on the squad.
