SAN DIEGO - Despite a positive start, San Diego State saw its winless streak extend to four matches as it dropped a 3-0 (30-25, 30-18, 30-20) decision to 17th-ranked Utah Friday evening in Peterson Gym. The win enabled the league-leading Utes to remain perfect in Mountain West Conference play at 11-0 while they improved to 19-3 overall. The Aztecs, meanwhile, saw their record fall to 3-21 (3-8 MWC).

Senior Kara Moriarty led the SDSU attack with 10 kills and eight digs while teammate Ashley Bowker had eight kills and hit .375 on the evening.

Libero Kari Dykema, playing in place of the injured Aime Cordeiro, recorded a career-high 18 digs and also had an assist and service ace.

Utah's Lyndsey Henderson led all players with 15 kills as she hit .667 and contributed four blocks.

The played their best ball of the night in game one, and despite falling by five points finished with a .323 hitting percentage to .237 for the visitors. However, from there the veteran Ute squad took control and allowed the Aztecs just 22 kills over the final two games.

San Diego State plays its final home match of the 2004 season on Saturday (Nov. 6) when it hosts Brigham Young at 7:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym. The threesome of Kara Moriarty, Kari Dykema and Lucilla Xavier will be making the final home appearance of their SDSU careers in that contest.
