SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team finished up its 2004 fall campaign by taking 16th overall with a three-round score of 944 (+80) at the 3rd Annual Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate in Henderson, Nev. The Aztecs shot a final round 28-over par 316 Wednesday morning at the par-72, 6,194-yard Anthem Country Club. Host UNLV held off third-ranked Washington to pull the upset in the team competition, carding an 875 (+11) for the tournament.
SDSU freshman Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) had her best round of the week and the team's top effort of the day with a two-over 74. Booth had birdies on three, par-4 holes to move up eight slots from 64th to 56th place, tying teammate Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) in the individual standings at 234 (+18).
Senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) dropped from 52nd to 75th place, carding a 12-over 84 Wednesday and finishing with a 241 (+25) for tournament. Freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) logged the team's second-best round of the day with a seven-over par 79 to come in 78th at 242 (+26). Senior Veronica Ojeda (San Diego, Calif.) rounded out the group by placing 79th overall with a 243 (+27).
UNLV's Hwanhee Lee earned medalist honors as the only golfer under par for the tournament with a three-round total of one-under 215. Washington's Sung Ea Lee and San Francisco's Jessica Potter were one stroke back at 216 (E).
The SDSU women's golf team begins the second half of its season in mid-March 2005, when it travels to Hawaii.
