SAN DIEGO - After nearly three weeks off, the San Diego State women's golf team returned to action Monday by shooting a 627 (+51) to stand 12th overall after two rounds of the Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The Aztecs are five strokes behind 11th place Denver and one stroke in front of 13th place North Texas, while Texas Tech leads the tournament with a score of 592 (+16) at the par-72, 6,319-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course.

SDSU senior Veronica Ojeda (San Diego, Calif.) continued her solid play by carding a two-round total of 154 (+10) to tie for 37th place individually. Ojeda had the team's best effort of the day with a 76 in the second round and was tied for second in the tournament field by combining for a one-under par on the par-3 holes.

Ojeda was helped by classmates Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), who is just two strokes behind with a 156 (+12), and Toni Lutz (Anaheim, Calif.), who shot a 157 (+13), including the squad's best first-round score of 77. Freshmen MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) and Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) round out the Aztec group of five and stand in 69th (161 (+17)) and 76th (163 (+19)) place, respectively.

Texas Tech's Kim Kolb is the top individual through two rounds and is the only golfer under par with a 142 (-2). She is followed by her teammate Valerie Tan (144 (E)) and Arizona State's Louise Stahle (145 (+1).

The Price's Intercollegiate concludes with the third and final round Tuesday, beginning at 7 a.m. PDT with a shotgun start.
