POSTGAME NOTES

With the Utah win, SDSU fell to 11-12-1 all-time versus the Utes ... SDSU still has a 6-5-1 advantage in games played in San Diego.

With today's attendance of 32,683, each of SDSU's four home games this season have exceeded the 30,000-mark. The last time the Aztecs had four straight home games with 30,000 or more fans was in 1994.

With his 10 tackles tonight, SDSU linebacker Kirk Morrison recorded double-figure tackles for the sixth straight game and the 17th time in his career. He now has 363 career tackles to move from third to second in the Aztec record books, passing Rico Curtis, who had 355 tackles. Morrison still trails Whip Walton, the school record-holder, who recorded 407 career tackles.

Aztec Jeff Webb has caught at least one pass in each of his last 18 games and has at least three catches in each of his last 13 outings. Webb has at least five receptions in each of the last six outings this season. Webb went over 100 yards receiving tonight (9 catches, 138 yards) for the fourth time this season and the sixth time in his career. The 138 yards are a season-high and the third-most in his career.

With tonight's performance, Webb moved into the Aztec career top 10 for catches with 129. Webb jumped past Darius Durham (127) for 10th place and tied Craig Scoggins (129) for ninth place.

Webb's two TD receptions tonight match the team season-high of two by Robert Ortiz in the opener against Idaho State.

SDSU's Brandon Bornes recorded career highs for both carries (17) and rushing yards (112) tonight. Bornes beat his previous bests of 11 carries against New Mexico and 62 yards versus UCLA. He also had a career long 41-yard run in the first quarter. The run was SDSU's second-longest of the year behind Michael Franklin's 67-yarder in the season-opener with Idaho State.

Bornes' 112 rushing yards is an Aztec season high. He becomes the second Aztec to rush for 100 or more yards in a game this season, joining Michael Franklin who has done it twice (100 against Nevada, 101 vs. Idaho State).

Blake Lobel's fumble return for a touchdown was the Aztecs' first defensive TD this season. The last time SDSU recorded a defensive score was in last year's season finale versus Air Force, when Marviel Underwood intercepted a Falcon pass and ran it back 74 yards.

The 21 first-half SDSU points are the most allowed by Utah since also giving up 21 in the first half of a 28-26 loss at Texas A&M Sept. 6, 2003 (a span of 17 games).

Quarterback Kevin O'Connell threw for 252 yards, completing 21 of his 43 passes - all career bests. O'Connell logged his first career rushing TD in the second quarter.

SDSU broke the 400-yard barrier for total offense for the fourth time this season and the first time in MWC play. The Aztecs have 400 yards or more of total offense in three of their four home games this year.

Other Aztec highlights: Tight end Jeremy Justice caught his longest pass of the season - a 30-yarder in the third quarter ... tight end and true freshman Lance Louis caught his first career pass in the second quarter ... seven different Aztecs caught at least one pass tonight.
