SAN DIEGO - Colorado State showed why it is the ninth-ranked team in the nation as it defeated San Diego State, 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-20), Saturday night in Peterson Gym. The Rams hit a scorching .414 for the match and recorded twice as many kills (62-30) as SDSU.

The win was the 11th in a row for CSU, which has not lost since their season opener on Aug. 28 vs. then number-one Minnesota. With the victory, the Rams improved to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the Mountain West Conference while the Aztecs fell 1-14 (1-2 MWC).

Although the final score of each game heavily favored the visitors, the Aztec actually played even with CSU in each contest. All three games saw the teams tied at 12-12 before Colorado State slowly pulled away for the win in each contest.

San Diego State was led offensively by Audra Dent and Melissa Stapley, who tallied eight kills apiece. Dent and teammate Ashley Bowker were also prominent at the net for the Aztecs with three blocks each.

Colorado State finished the match with three players in double figures in kills, led by Tess Rogers with 16. The team defenses were even with both sides recording 34 digs on the night. Individual honors in that stat went to SDSU's Aime Cordeiro who had a dozen.

San Diego State now takes a short break from league play as it hosts cross-town rival University of San Diego on Tuesday (Oct., 5) at 7:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
