COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior women's soccer player Courtney Burns earned Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. Burns became the fourth Aztec in three weeks to earn a MWC accolade.

Burns, a native of Grand Terrace, Calif., tallied both goals for SDSU in a 2-0 victory over Air Force on Oct. 22. She scored her first goal at the 18-minute mark of the first half on a deflection from the Air Force goalkeeper. Burns scored her second goal four minutes into the second half from 15 yards out.

A 2002 transfer from UC Riverside, Burns now has nine career goals, most by a current Aztec player. Burns is also tied for the team lead with three goals in 2004.

It was the third consecutive week that an SDSU player has been named MWC Player of the Week. Two weeks ago, senior Sophia Perez earned MWC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Jen Klunder (offensive) and senior defender Noelle Jouglet (defensive) each earned the award last week. The Aztecs have won four player of the week honors, which is tied for the most in the conference with UNLV and Utah.

SDSU, which is 3-0-2 in the MWC (6-6-5 overall) and is tied for conference lead with UNLV, plays host to the Rebels at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner of that match will receive the No. 1 seed and a bye in the quarterfinals of the MWC tournament. All ticket prices are $5. However, fans can present their Oct. 30, 2004, SDSU-Utah football ticket at the gate to gain free admission for Saturday game.

On Thursday, the Aztecs host Colorado College in a non-conference match on the SDSU Sports Deck at 1 p.m.
