SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Alesya Vidov lost in the third round at the Wilson/ITA Western Regional Championships held at Barnes Tennis Center on Saturday. The loss prevented the Aztecs from moving into the quaterfinals of the regional tournament.
Vidov's round of 16 opponent was Nicole Leimbach (Southern Cal), the tournament's No. 7 seed. The sophomore lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to her Pac-10 counterpart. The defeat knocked the Aztecs out of the annual competition for the rest of the weekend.
Day four of the Wilson/ITA Western Regional Championships continues Sunday at Barnes Tennis Center with quarterfinal and semifinal matches taking place.
