SAN DIEGO - San Diego State saw its two-match win streak come to an abrupt end as it fell to UNLV, 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-18), Friday evening in Peterson Gym. With the win, the Rebels (11-7 overall) temporarily moved into sole possession of third place in the Mountain West Conference with a 5-3 league mark. The Aztecs (3-18), meanwhile, remain in sixth place as their MWC ledger fell to 3-5.

The Rebels were in control for much of the match as they finished with a team hitting percentage of .422, including a blistering .576 in game three. The Aztecs had an attack percentage of .196 over the three games, but hit .396 in the second game before falling by four points.

UNLV got double figures in kills from three players. The Rebels led by Maria Aladjova with 18 while Lauren Miramontes and Tarin Keith had 17 and 10 respectively. Miramontes hit .680 for the match as she made no attack errors on 25 attempts.

Kara Moriarty was the lone Aztec to reach double figures in kills, finishing with 10. Freshman setter Kristen Castillo was second in kills on the night for the home side with eight. She also made no attack errors, hitting .800 while serving up 26 assists, five digs and a pair of blocks.

The one area where SDSU outdid the rebels was on the block, where they finished with 10 to UNLV's six. Audra Dent led the way with seven block assists while Ashley Bowker chipped in with seven.

Up next for San Diego State is a two-match road swing to the Rockies next weekend. That trip begins with a visit to 9th-ranked Colorado State on Friday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m. (MDT).
