San Diego State's doubles team of Eliska Krausova and Alesya Vidov qualified for the Wilson/ITA Western Regional Championship's main draw co-hosted by SDSU and USD at Barnes Tennis Center.
Krausova/Vidov received a first round bye and went on to face Loyola Marymount's Fermin/Tanner. The match was close as the Aztecs squeezed out a 9-7 victory over the duo from Los Angeles.
In other doubles qualifying action, the combo of Carla Bell and Sarah Sansom defeated their first round opponent from the University of Hawaii, Boutet/Aikawa, by a score of 9-7. But in the next round, with a spot in the main draw at stake, the two lost, 0-8, to UC Santa Barbara's Damion/Wilson.
In qualifying singles play, Bell was victorious in her match beating Northern Arizona's Susan McClelland, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. In the second round, Bell was defeated, 2-6, 2-6, by UC Irvine's Inna Agababian. Teammate Krausova lost to Cal State Northridge's Kanykey Koichumanova, 3-6, 4-6.
Day two of the Wilson/ITA Western Regional Championships continues Friday at Barnes Tennis Center with main draw competition starting at 9 a.m.
