San Diego State women's tennis, along with the University of San Diego, will be hosting the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Western Women's Regional Championships Oct. 21-25, at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
The second leg of the college grand slam will feature the finest talent in the western United States. San Diego State's ranked doubles team and fourth seeded Dita Hauerlandova and Indra Erichsen will take on UNLV's Smith-Zsiros in a first-round match-up of Mountain West Conference foes at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.
In singles play, Hauerlandova will face Long Beach State's Rachael Porsz in the round of 64 at 10:30 a.m. Other Aztecs in action include Erichsen who will take on qualifier number three and Alesya Vidov who will be opposed by qualifier number two.
The two finalists from the singles bracket and the doubles champion will earn spots in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan taking place on Nov. 4-7.
Tournament play begins on Thursday with the qualifying rounds. Friday marks the start of main draw competition with singles starting at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Round of 64 doubles action is set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
