SALT LAKE CITY - The 20th-ranked University of Utah Utes ran their winning streak to 10 straight matches as they defeated San Diego State, 3-0 (31-29, 30-24, 30-21), Saturday night at the Crimson court in Salt Lake City. Utah improved to 13-2 on the season and remained perfect in Mountain West Conference play at 5-0. The Aztecs, meanwhile, suffered their fourth consecutive loss, falling to 1-17 overall and 1-4 in league action.

Senior outside hitter Kara Moriarty led SDSU with 14 kills and also contributed seven blocks and a pair of digs. She tied for match-high kill honors with Utah's Lyndsey Henderson, who also had 14.

San Diego State's Ashley Bowker led all players with a .500 hitting percentage over the three games, amassing nine kills with just tow errors in 14 attempts. She also had a pair of blocks.

The Aztecs came out strong against the nationally-ranked Utes, hitting .318 in the first game to .308 for the home team. However, they dropped a two-point decision (33-31) and the more experience Utah squad took control of the contest.

The Utes were especially strong at the net, where they recorded 15.5 team blocks to five for San Diego State. They were led by Amie Toone with eight blocks while Henderson finished with seven. For the Aztecs, Moriarty and freshman Lindsey Mahan had a pair of blocks along with Bowker.

Up next for SDSU is a pair of MWC home matches next weekend beginning with a contest against New Mexico on Friday (Oct. 15) at 7:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
